Marrying forged copper with wood and leather is a high-value studio niche: knife handles, spatulas and door pulls are forged with Ø4–6 mm tapered tangs or rivet holes — hardwood handles get epoxy plus brass rivets — while leather is whipped on over ridges forged into the tang for grip. Sanjo (Japan) smithies and Nordic tool brands use exactly this. Watchpoints: keep wood at 8–12% moisture so handles never loosen; insulate the tang with linen or board where heat conducts; and on kitchenware make every joint flush and strippable to avoid grime traps and galvanic staining.
