Contemporary sculptors use bright gold as accent rather than coverage: on chemically blackened bronze, 24K leaf (3.3 cm × 3.3 cm sheets) goes only on fingertips, lips or geometric ridges, mirror-gold against matte black. Edge control is critical—first a 2K polyurethane base coat overall, then leafing, then spot topcoat, using UV-stable lacquer on leaf to prevent embrittlement. At 50–300 sheets per sculpture, material cost stays modest while visual premium is large—now a gallery-bronze idiom. ---
