Fold forming is one of metalsmithing's most successfully open-sourced techniques: Charles Lewton-Brain publishes his base sequences under open licences, and the community has grown a freely downloadable pattern library on top of them, each entry fixed to four elements—blank size, fold method, anneal points and opening order.
