Restoring a pierced Han-dynasty bronze basin, British Museum conservators dapped a patch from 0.8 mm brass to match the wall curvature: curvature was read from a silicone negative of the interior, the patch sunk in three grades with one anneal each and its rim thinned to 0.3 mm for riveting. No overall patina—only B72 acrylic tinted at the seam—keeping the intervention reversible and visually distinct from the original surface. ---
