When filling losses on historic silver, the patch must match the original wall thickness (measured at multiple points; typically 0.8–1.2 mm), annealed at 650°C to a dull cherry red and water-quenched soft, then raised on a stake to the local curvature. Read the original hammer sequence under raking light — overlap direction and rhythm — and actively match the new patch's marks rather than re-hammering the whole field. Attach patches with low-temperature silver solder (650–720°C) spot joints or reversible silver paste, then age the whole surface to one tone. ---
